The coroner’s service for Calderdale says it is determined to continue its work despite the suspension of coroner Peter Straker.

Professor Paul Marks has been asked to take over the day-to-day running of the area while complaints to the Office of Judicial Complaints about Dr Straker are investigated.

As reported by the Courier, Dr Straker has been suspended while the investigation is carried out.

A spokesman for the coroner’s service said: “The coroner’s service, led by acting coroner Professor Paul Marks since the suspension on February 5 of West Yorkshire Coroner, Dr Peter Straker, has been engaged in making sure that its delivery to the people of West Yorkshire in Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale, has continued without interruption or delay.”
