The following cases were heard at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court:

Jordanne Brearley, 18, of Weavers Brook, Cumberland Close, Ovenden, Halifax, was given a community order and ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge for assault.

Richard Hughes, 38, of Denfield Crescent, Ovenden, Halifax, was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £100 costs and £60 victim surcharge for attempted theft.

Tomasz Adamecki, 37, of Church Close, Halifax, was fined £130, ordered to pay £120 costs and £15 victim surcharge for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle.

Mark Shuttlewood, 40, of Kings Court, Akeds Road, Halifax, was jailed for 16 weeks for theft of DVDs valued £127.92 belonging to WH Smiths, for the theft of meat valued £20 belonging to Iceland and for assault.

Mark Neil Cartlidge, 31, of Richmond Avenue, Beechwood, Sowerby Bridge, was disqualified from driving, ordered to carry out 240 hours unpaid community work, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge for drink driving without insurance, whilst disqualified.

Robert Alan Vyse, 33, of Banksfield Avenue, Mytholmroyd, was jailed for 18 weeks for criminal damage and breach of a restraining order.

Catherine Anne Alexander, 51, of Vegal Crescent, Ovenden, Halifax, was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid community work, undergo a 15-day activity course, pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge for the theft of a cash card belonging to another.

Shabaz Riaz, 21, of Essex Street, Halifax, was fined £110, ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge for driving without insurance.

Andrew Paul Greenwood, 46, of Keighley Road, Pecket Well, Hebden Bridge, was fined £400, ordered to pay £85 costs and £40 victim surcharge for driving without due care and attention.

Richard Samuel Cochrane, 33, of West Parade, King Cross, Halifax, was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge for the theft of make-up valued £113.19 belonging to Boots, Halifax.

Darren Paul McConnell, 32, of Wellington Place, Halifax, was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge for the theft of clothing valued £108 belonging to Sports Direct, Halifax, and for possession of cannabis.

Alan Wilby, 41, of Clough Bank, Mixenden, Halifax, was jailed for two weeks for possession of a class B drug and for dishonestly appropriating electricity.

James Bridge, 23, of Elizabeth Street, Elland, was fined £190 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge for driving without due care and attention.

Daniel Lee Jowett, 24, of Byron Street, Halifax, was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid community work, to pay £2,825 compensation and £60 victim surcharge for the theft of money valued £2,855 belonging to Cash Convertors.
