Police are planning an operation to keep under-age drinking and anti-social behaviour out of a park in Sowerby Bridge this weekend.
Halifax Central neighbourhood policing team is joining forces with Calderdale’s Special Constabulary for a night of action in Crow Wood Park on Saturday.
They will be challenging anyone believed to be drinking illegally or involved in yob behaviour.
PC Mark Butterfield, from the team, said: “We know residents are concerned about under-age drinking and anti-social behaviour in this area and we are addressing those problems.
“Under-age alcohol consumption is often a direct cause of anti-social behaviour by young people in communities and this is something we are working hard to prevent.
“This is particularly so with warmer weather, later nights and school holidays now upon us, increasing the potential for young people to stay out for longer.
“We are also asking parents to work with us by making sure they know where their children are and what they are doing.”
Similar operations will be carried out in future.
Anyone who has any concerns in the Sowerby Bridge area is urged to contact PC Mark Butterfield or PC Dave Mayhew on 01422 337003.
