A POLICE community support officer has been tasked with tackling business crime across the district.
James Boakes will work with local businesses to share intelligence about persistent offenders and offer crime prevention packages.
“Neighbourhood Policing Teams are working hard in partnership with business owners to help reduce losses to their businesses,” said PCSO Boakes.
“The extra support of a co-ordinator focussed on making Calderdale a good place to do business can only be of benefit to the area.”
Funding has been provided by The Business Crime Reduction Centre and firms signing up to the scheme have access to the force-wide specific services and information within the centre.
The scheme is open to businesses such as hotels, service and manufacturing trades which have less than 250 employees.
Chief Superintendent Chris Hardern, Divisional Commander for Calderdale Police, said: “We are delighted to be able to launch this support for the business community. It is imperative we do all we can to boost the economy and encourage business. Reducing crime is one way in which we can help.”
