Drink drive campaign launched in Calderdale

.

.

Police will be out in force this month as part of a drink drive campaign.

Operation Ovaldale is being run by the Western Area Roads Policing Unit which covers the Calderdale and Bradford areas. Officers from teh team will work with those from local neighbourhood policing teams to carry out drink drive checks at the roadside and drug field impairment tests.

PC Andrew Gudgeon - from the Western Area Roads Policing Team - said: “These operations are an important part of our continued commitment to making the roads safe by targeting offenders and ensuring all communities can enjoy the festive period safely.

“I urge all motorists to act responsibly and take the necessary precautions to ensure that they do not drive whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs as the consequences can be life altering for all concerned. Motorists must realise that their actions could lead to them being arrested, prosecuted, disqualified from driving and in the worst circumstances can lead to someone’s death. Use a designated driver or a taxi. Do not drink or take drugs and drive, it’s just not worth it.”
