Fish worth thousands of pounds stolen from pet shop in Wyke

Koi carp and goldfish worth over £20,000 have been stolen from a pet shop in Wyke.

Over 460 koi carp and 30 chinese goldfish were taken in the break-in on Whitehall Road on Tuesday.

Two of the carp are particularly valuable. One 30-inch koi is valued at around £2,000 while a 36-inch koi called Charlie carries a £10,000 tag.

The Ccinese goldfish cost between £30 and £300 each.

The fish were taken from inside the pet shop as well as from an outside pond.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and for information from anyone who may have been offered any of the fish for sale or knows where they are.
