A FRAUDSTER has been ordered to pay back close to £54,000 of his criminal profits.
Sajid Bashir, 34, faces 18 months in jail if he does not stump up the cash within six months.
A Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation hearing was told he gained £53,752 from a mortgage fraud he admitted to in July. Bashir, of Hammond Street, Halifax, was sentenced to eight months in jail, suspended for two years, for the offence in August.
Detective Sergeant Phil Jagger, of Calderdale police’s POCA team, said: “The Proceeds of Crime Act has been utilised to target offenders and take away the financial benefits they have got through crime.
“We urge people to contact police if they believe people are living beyond their means and involved in criminal activity.”
