The jury at the trial of former Halifax and Leeds Rugby League player Graham Holroyd heard the outline of the case against him today at Bradford Crown Court.
Prosecutor Richard Gioserano alleges that between the age of 11 and 15, Holroyd abused a boy and a girl.
Now aged 38, Holroyd is charged with two counts of indecent assault against the boy for offences between 1986 and 1989 .
He was charged with three counts of indecent assault committed against the girl between 1986 and 1989 and one charge of rape allegedly committed between 1989 and 1991.
Mr Gioserano said that the boy was as young as nine and the girl six when the abuse allegedly started.
He said that the charges only cover the types of offences committed and do not cover the full extent of the allegations which he described as ‘sustained’ abuse over a four year period.
Holroyd denies all charges.
The trial has now been adjourned for the day.
