ARMED police swept into Halifax yesterday on the trail of a wanted man.
They moved into King Cross Road, where a stand-off is thought to have lasted around two hours.
There are reports it was the third day of the hunt. Officers have also been spotted in Sowerby Bridge and Bolton Brow.
Keith Miller, who runs Savile’s hairdressers in King Cross Road, saw the action unfold. “I had to do a double-take because it’s something I haven’t seen before. It was quite a surprise.
“I presumed it was something serious. I was with a customer and half way through doing her hair and suddenly realised what was happening.
“Because there were only two officers at our side I thought there were others round the back.”
Up to seven bus services were diverted along Aachen Way due to the activity.
A police spokesperson said: “Firearms officers have been deployed as part of an ongoing operation to locate a wanted man.”
They said no further details could be released in case it jeopardised the ongoing operation.
