A 40-year-old man was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation after pleading guilty to making off without paying for a meal.

Lynden Hagues of Barrington Close, Halifax, admitted to consuming food and drink at Frankie and Benny’s at Broad Street Plaza, Halifax, on July 3 and then leaving the restaurant without paying.

Calderdale Magistrates Court heard that Hagues had no means to pay for the meal and was ordered to pay £36.15 compensation and £15 victim surcharge.
