The boyfriend of a grandmother whose body was found in a shallow grave has denied murdering her.

Pamela Jackson, 55, disappeared from her home in Chester-le-Street in March.

Her partner, Adrian Muir, 50, from Calder Terrace, Halifax, was charged with her murder before her body was found.

Officers discovered Ms Jackson’s remains buried on Rishworth Moor, near the M62 motorway, last month.

Muir appeared at Newcastle Crown Court via video-link today to plead not guilty to the charge.

His trial will be held on August 29.
