Police have issued a warning after a haul of potentially dangerous fireworks were stolen in a shop robbery.
North East Leeds police said a hooded gang of about 12 males entered Roundhay Fireworks, in Roundhay Road, and threatened staff before stealing a large quantity of fireworks.
Among the haul were Bright Star branded fireworks.
Detective Inspector Richard Holmes said: “These fireworks are extremely powerful and pose a risk of serious injury and damage if they are misused.
“We are therefore asking people to be mindful of this in terms of the origin of any fireworks they come across.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered these type of fireworks for sale or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
The robbers struck at 7.45 pm on Wednesday and were described as black, aged 18 to 20, wearing dark clothing, balaclavas and gloves.
Anyone with information should ring 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
