A love struck young man was picked up by police on the M62.
At 2.30am this morning (Friday) officers found the man walking along the hard shoulder from Halifax to Bedford.
He told them he was on his way to see a girlfriend he had met online.
It would have taken him around 52hours to walk the distance without breaks to reach Bedford from Halifax via the M62.
A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said that staff from the Highways Agency provided assistance to police after reports of a pedestrian on the hard shoulder of the M62 in the early hours of the morning.
“Staff at the Regional Control Centre in Wakefield located the pedestrian via CCTV and Highways Agency traffic officers arrived at the scene between junction 26 Chain Bar and junction 27 at Gildersome at approximately 1.40am to ensure the safety of both the pedestrian and motorway users.
“Police removed the pedestrian from the motorway shortly afterwards.”
