Man arrested following Halifax street robbery

A woman was robbed as she walked through the North Bridge area of Halifax yesterday (Wednesday) lunch time.

A 27-year-old Halifax man is currently in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The 49-year-old victim, who was walking from Sainsbury’s towards North Bridge Leisure Centre, just after 12.30pm had her handbag taken during the incident.

Police are now asking for witnesses to get in touch.

Inspector Detective Craig Lord, of Calderdale CID, said: “We want to speak to anyone who saw a man running away towards Boothtown.”
