Man arrested in Leeds murder probe

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man from the Woodhouse area of Leeds on suspicion of murder.

Kieran Lee Butterworth died following an incident on Back Seaforth Road in Harehills yesterday afternoon (Tue).

Police had been called to the scene at 12.41 pm following reports that a man had been stabbed in the street near to the junction of Back Seaforth Avenue and Foundry Approach.

The 17-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he died a short time later.

A post mortem found that Kieran Butterworth died as a result of multiple stab wounds to his chest.

Today, the area around Back Seaforth Avenue and Foundry Approach remains cordoned off while the scene continues to be forensically examined.

Murder detectives are appealing for anyone who is yet to come forward to contact police.
