Man assaulted as he leaves pub

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an unprovoked attack in Halifax town centre last weekend.

The incident happened in Cheapside shortly after midnight on Saturday when a 42-year-old man was assaulted as he left a pub with his partner after a Friday night out.

He was struck over the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground where he was further assaulted. He was taken to hospital with a broken leg and elbow injury.

Enquires are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to the assault by two white males in their late 20s.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Calderdale CID on 101.
