Man guilty of assault on partner

A man who assaulted his partner has been found guilty by magistrates.

Michael Rhodes, 27, of Douglas Towers in Bradford, assaulted his partner in Masonic Street, Halifax, on May 12 this year.

Following an argument between the two, Rhodes choked the woman, who was five months pregnant, for 40 seconds.

He was arrested by police, who were called when a neighbour reported hearing screaming coming from the property.

Rhodes was found guilty in his absence by Calderdale Magistrates, where he will next appear to be committed to crown court on August 9.
