A 31-year-old has appeared in court charged with robbing an elderly woman in broad daylight.
Josef Szelong, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address through a Czech interpretor when he appeared at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The incident happened outside the Halifax Courier offices on Regent Street last Friday when a 75-year-old woman had her bag snatched.
Szelong of Mayfield Terrace South, Halifax, will be sent to Bradford Crown Court for trial following a plea and case management hearing on May 21. He was released on police bail.
