A 35-year-old man was sentenced to a nine-week prison sentence after pleading with magistrates to lock him up.

Gary Willcock of Clare Road, Halifax, pleaded guilty to breaking a curfew order and cutting off an electronic tag which he was ordered to wear following a conviction for causing criminal damage.

Calderdale Magistrates Court heard how Willcock was unwilling to keep his curfew because he enjoyed going to the pub.

Chair of Magistrates Liz Bavidge told Willcock that he had “willfully refused to abide by the court’s order” before sentencing him to nine weeks in prison.
