Murder investigation launched after body of man found in Keighley street

A 34-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the man of a body was found dead in Keighley.

The deceased man, believed to be a 23-year-old Eastern European, was found with serious stab wounds on Chapel Lane, Keighley just before 4am this morning (Sunday).

Another man was also found with stab wounds at the scene on Chapel Lane and has been taking to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment where his condition is described as critical but stable.

The man in custody was arrested near the scene and is now being questioned.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson of Protective Services (Crime), said: “Officers have launched a murder enquiry in Keighley following the discovery of these men this morning.

“A man is under arrest on suspicion of murder and we continue to investigate the circumstances of what has taken place.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw fighting or suspicious behaviour in the Chapel Lane area of Keighley between 3am and 4am or who has any information about this incident to contact Bradford District CID on 101. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
