Newsagent’s wife accused of syphoning over £2million from employer

The wife of a newsagent appeared at court accused of syphoning over £2million from her employer.

Julie Nickerson, 54, of Wade House Road, Shelf, appeared at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court accused of the theft of £2,342,640 from her employer JLA Ltd between January 01 and December 31, 2012.

Husband Anthony Nickerson, 47, of Wade House Newsagents, Shelf, also appeared in the dock charged with aiding his wife with bank transfers totalling £2,342,640.

The couple are both charged with making a false representation to HM Revenue and Customs; stating that Julie Nickerson had inherited £649,716 from her mother.

Both defendants did not enter a plea in court. They were released on conditional bail and will appear at Bradford Crown Court on September 3.
