Pensioner wakes to find burglar in her home in Savile Park in Halifax

An elderly woman woke to find a thief in her Halifax home.

The culprit took the bulbs out of the hallway and bathroom lights of the 83-year-old woman’s home in Savile Park when he broke in last night.

Then, when she got up to visit the bathroom, she had to feel her way in the darkness, and found herself face to face with the thief.

She fled to the living room and sat on her settee. He followed and pushed her back on the settee before fleeing with her handbag and a designer wrist watch.

Detective Sergeant Terry O’Keeffe, from Calderdale CID, said; “This was a very frightening experience for an elderly woman.

“We want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious or has information about the theft.”

The suspect is described as white with dark skin, in his 40s and with dark or ginger hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and was clean shaven.

He took an Italian leather handbag with a gold metal clasp and a Gucci wrist watch.
