Police appeal after bike, passport, cash and clothes stolen from tourist on cycling holiday

Officers are appealing for help to find a bike, passport and money stolen from a tourist on a cycling holiday in Barkisland.

The bike’s owner had left the orange Velotraum touring bike against a wall while he went to get something that had fallen out of his bag further down the road.

He discovered his bike and panniers, containing passport, cash, credit cards, camera, mobile phone and clothes, were missing when he returned just minutes later.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have any information.

They are particularly keen to speak to three men who were travelling in a white transit van and who had stopped to asked the cyclist for directions.

The bike was taken from Steele Lane, Krumlin, at 10.15am last Wednesday.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Richard Thorp in Brighouse Police Station on 101.
