Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Kirklees.

The Major Collision Enquiry Team (Mcet) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident which took place at about 11.20pm on Sunday May 26 on Penistone Road in Shepley.

It occurred after a Ford Transit van came off the road and collided with a stone wall and two trees.

Two men inside the vehicle received serious but not life threatening injuries as a result of the collision while the driver, a 25-year-old man from Emley, sadly died as the scene as a result of his injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who saw the van shortly before the collision or the incident itself is asked to contact The Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.
