Police in Halifax claw back more than £7,000 from fine dodgers

Halifax Central Neighbourhood Policing Team have been clamping down on fine dodgers.

During a special operation last week, officers joined forces with fine warrant Officers to execute warrants in excess of £7,000.

Eleven people owing money in the Halifax area were dealt with during the day of action.

Acting Inspector Warren Pitman, of Halifax Central neighbourhood policing team, said: “One of the ways criminals are punished at court is to be hit in the pocket and ordered to pay money.

“This operation is about getting those unpaid fines settled and arresting people who think they can ignore a fine.”
