Police officers and firefighters were called to the cricket pavilion in Shroggs Park after reports it had been set on fire.

Officers received a number of calls from the public on Thursday night at 8.20pm reporting that a group of youths had been seen in the area.

When the emergency services arrived they discovered a wheelie bin, close to the pavilion had been set alight. Luckily no damage had been caused to the pavilion.

A group of youths were located and a 15-year-old male admitted to setting the wheelie bin on fire.

The investigation is still ongoing and the youth will be dealt with in due course.
