Police issue witness appeal after woman found seriously injured in Leeds

Police are appealing for information after a woman was found seriously injured in a car in a Leeds street.

Shortly after 3am today (Sunday, August 4)) police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending to the 51-year-old woman who had been found in a car parked in Mexborough Grove, Chapeltown.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where she is currently in a critical condition.

A 53-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody.

A scene has been established and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything in the time leading up to when the woman was found.
