West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit has been working with partner agencies to tackle road safety issues with abnormal loads.
Action has been taken over 11 days at several locations including the Ainley Top weighbridge.
Working with representatives from VOSA, West Yorkshire Highways and Bridges, and HM Revenue, officials have been checking the loads vehicles carry.
Police say the aim is to raise awareness of safety issues, check ownership of items of engineering plant being carried, and ensure legislation is complied with.
Abnorrmal Loads Officer David Bond said: “Heavy good vehicles carrying abnormal loads must be correctly loaded and must have regular checks to ensure they’re complying with legislation and that the vehicles are roadworthy.
“Drivers of these vehicles have an extra responsibility due to the sheer size of the vehicles they are operating on our roads and the damage they could potentially cause.”
Similar operations are carried out regularly throughout the year.
