Police pledge crackdown on poachers

POACHERS are being targeted in a crackdown by police.

Officers in West Yorkshire say they have specialist tactics and equipment to track anyone involved in deer poaching, hare coursing, badger baiting and fish poaching.

Wildlife officer Inspector Terry Murgatroyd said: “Poachers can be charged with many offences including criminal damage and theft and will face arrest and conviction and the seizure of any vehicles, equipment and dogs used in the crimes.

“Poachers can also face disqualification from driving if they are using their vehicles for crime.”
