Police shoot dog that bit its owner in Halifax

A dog was shot and killed by police in Halifax this morning.

Officers were called to reports of a dog having attacked a man in Turner Avenue South, Illingworth, at 2.17am.

The dog had run away from the property and, fearing for the safety of other residents, police officers shot the animal.

The man was taken to hospital with an injured arm.
