Probe after boy of 11 is attacked in the street

AN 11-year-old boy was attacked in Halifax town centre.

The boy was with a friend walking along Portland Place in the town centre when they were chased by four youths.

The victim separated from his friend and was chased down St John’s Road where three of the youths held him while the other attacked him, injuring his face.

The culprits made off on foot into Halifax town centre where it is believed they tried to hide in a pet shop.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault and a member of the public who is thought to have seen what happened and told the culprits to apologise.

The suspects are described as white, 15 or 16, all between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 9ins tall, and skinny.

The main suspect had blonde, spiked, gelled hair and was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information about the attack, between 3.10pm and 3.30pm on Monday, should call 01422 337115.
