a MAN who was so drunk he didn’t remember breaking into a house has been given 18 months in prison.
Paul Doherty, 21, of West Bank Illingworth, Halifax, smashed his way into a house in Turner Avenue in October.
He stole computers, games and a television, as well as causing over £1,000 damage.
Doherty, who has a string of previous convictions, told police he didn’t remember anything about committing the offence.
Police found his DNA at the scene during investigations.
Bradford Crown Court heard that none of the items was recovered.
Judge David Wilby said: “Being in prison gives you at least some chance of being detoxified.”
