Robbers with sword and hammer attack Halifax store

SWORD and hammer-weilding thieves attacked a shop in Halifax yesterday.

The food store on Battinson Road was attacked at 10.40am yesterday.

Two men, armed with a sword and a hammer, went in and demanded money, cigarettes and a mobile phone.

They put the goods in a black canvas bag, described by police as like a supermarket bag for life, before escaping on foot.

One was described as slim, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall and about 20 years old.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up and a dark patterned scarf covering his face and gloves.

He was holding a sword in his right hand. The blade was silver metal and 1.5 ft long. The handle was gold colour metal or plastic shiny handle with a gem stone on it.

The other man was of medium build, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, and about 20 years old.

He was wearing a dark navy blue jacket, a hood or cap, and gloves.

His face covered with a dark scarf. He was holding a hammer.
