A man who ran off with two Rolex watches worth more than £12,000 has been jailed for two years.
Lee Browne, 24, from Liverpool, was locked up at Bradford Crown Court yesterday after he admitted stealing the watches during an incident in Lister Horsfall in Corn Market, Halifax.
The court heard how Browne, who had a previous conviction for a similar snatch, had been looking at one watch when the shop door was opened and he ran from the premises after grabbing the other watch from a female assistant.
Browne was linked to the offence in February after a police officer on Merseyside saw an image of him.
Browne claimed to have sold on the stolen watches for £4,000.
Judge Jonathan Rose said Browne had come to Halifax to commit the offence in the hope he would not be identified.
