Shopkeeper fights off would-be robber in Huddersfield

A shopkeeper threw bottles at a man who tried to rob his shop in Huddersfield this morning

The man went into the store on New Hey Road at Outlane at 5.35am and threatened the 50-year-old shopkeeper, deamnding cash.

When the victim refused to hand anything over, he was hit with an umbrella that the suspect was carrying.

The victim threw bottles at the suspect until he ran away, heading off on foot towards the Swan pub.

He was described as in his 20s, wearing a balaclava, believed to be dark-skinned and slim. He was around 5ft 6ins tall and wearing dark clothing and dark gloves.
