Stranger attack ‘left man with serious facial injuries’

Police are appealing for information after a man suffered serious facial injuries after being attacked in Halifax town centre.

The 19-year-old victim was in Commercial Street, near the junction of Silver Street, when he was assaulted by the unknown male in the early hours of last Sunday.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft, aged 18 to 20, slim with short shaved hair to the back and sides which was light brown and curly on top. He was wearing grey clothing.  

The attack happened around 5am.

Detective Constable Jason Mohan of Calderdale CID said, “This assault left the victim with serious facial injuries, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area who may have seen anything, or who may be able to identify the suspect to come forward. “Enquiries are ongoing.”
