A SUPERMARKET worker appeared in court this morning charged with using Facebook to groom a young girl for sex.

Stephen Woolley, 26, is accused of using a fake account to contact the 14-year-old, sending her explicit messages and trying to get her to meet him for sex.

He was arrested on Friday at Lidl in Sowerby Bridge, where he was working as a deputy manager.

Woolley, of Stocks Lane in Luddenden, has not yet entered a plea to charges of grooming and inciting a child to engage in intercourse.

Calderdale magistrates remanded him in custody until next Tuesday, when he will appear at Bradford Crown Court.
