Ten face court on fraud charges

Ten people have appeared in court charged with conspiring to commit fraud by false representation.

Richard Ingham, 49, of Hastings Way, Halifax, Mark Jowett, 37 of Bishopdale Court, Halifax, Stephen Watson, 31, of Granny Hall Park in Brighouse, Stephen Baldwin, 51, of Pleasant View in Luddendenfoot, Michael Hammond, 26, of Emscote Avenue in Halifax, Stephen Ormston, 45, of Catherine Street in Elland, Gareth Ott, 29, of Heath Gardens, Halifax, Lee Richardson 27, of Plane Tree Cottage, Wainstalls, Halifax, Wesley Watson, 30, of Warley Road, Halifax and Raja Yasin, 32, of Craven Edge, Halifax, all appeared before Calderdale magsitrates yesterday.

They are charged with conspiring to commit fraud by obtaining payment of travelling expenses, intending to cause loss to, or to defraud the Department of Work and Pensions, between 21 June 2010 and 31 May 2011.

The case was committed to crown court and they will all appear before a Judge in Bradford on Wednesday December 21.
