A MAN found with cannabis plants in his cellar has been told he will work in the community as punishment.
Quentin Thomson, of Rochdale Road, Todmorden, was searched by police on May 7 this year.
Officers found a block of a brown substance that Thomson, 39, said was cannabis.
They searched his home and found nine cannabis plants in various stages of growth.
Thomson told Calderdale Magistrates’ Court the plants were for personal use only and he had given up on them.
If they had been well looked after they had a potential yield of 360g.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a controlled drug of class B and production of a controlled drug of class B.
Magistrates handed him a community order including 120 hours unpaid work and £85 costs.
