Police in Halifax are appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted in the town centre in the early hours of Sunday March 9.

The two men were walking up George Square near to the bus stops between 1am and 3am. One of them turned around to see the other on the floor surrounded by three males. He went to help but was hit in the face and possibly kicked when he was on the floor.

The first person, aged 19, suffered an injured nose and other head and neck injuries.

The second person who went to help him was aged 20. He suffered a possible broken nose and other facial injuries.

PC Sarah Brown of Calderdale Police, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or came to the assistance of these two to get in contact.

“A man we want to speak to in connection with the incident is described as white, tall and with dark coloured hair with a quiff. He was wearing a white top.

“Please contact police on 101.”
