Voting is continuing in the election for a new West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner but provisional figures for Calderdale show overwhelming support for Labour councillor Mark Burns-Williamson.
He received 8,933 votes, Calderdale Councillor Geraldine Carter (Con) 6,003, Cedric Christie (Ind) 5,287 and Andrew Marchington (Lib-Dem) 1,856.
The final result, including votes cast in Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield and Kirklees is due later this afternoon.
One in six Calderdale electors voted yesterday.
At 15.3 per cent, it was the highest turnout in West Yorkshire which averaged 13.8 per cent overall.
