Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of a serious sexual assault in Halifax town centre.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who has information or witnessed the incident, reported to have taken place at around 4 am in a doorway in Crossley Street, Halifax, on Friday.

They would particularly like to speak to four men who are believed to have been near the scene and may have information about what occurred.

The incident took place after the victim, a 19-year-old woman, left the Acapulco night club and was led into the doorway where a serious sexual assault is believed to have taken place.

The victim has been cared for by specially trained detectives and inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone who has information, or who can help trace the four men who may have seen what happened, should contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team at West Yorkshire Police on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
