A rambler has ben reported walking through Halifax town centre naked this afternoon.

Stephen Gough - who has been dubbed ‘the naked rambler’ - was arrested in Hebden Bridge yesterday lunchtime.

He had been spotted heading towards the town centre and was arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace.

The 53-year-old was taken to Halifax Police Station for questioning and was released on bail this lunchtime, pending further inquiries.

On his release, he walked out of the police station naked.

He was then spotted walking through Halifax town centre early this afternoon before being stopped by police on Bull Green at around 2pm.

He was arrested again, this time on suspicion of a public order act.

Mr Gough was released from Saughton Prison in Edinburgh three weeks ago where he had served a six-month sentence for repeatedly breaching the peace.

The former marine from Hampshire is understood to have walked 220 miles before his arrest on Wednesday.
