A woman was grabbed from behind by a pair of thieves as she unloaded her vehicle in the car park at Broad Street Plaza before they stole her car.

The incident occurred around 2.25pm on Friday afternoon, when a 28-year-old woman was taking items out of the boot of her parked Audi S3, when she was approached from behind by two unknown males.

The first suspect grabbed her from behind and demanded the keys to the vehicle before both males made off at speed in the car.

The first suspect is described as a white male, early to mid twenties, around 6ft tall, of skinny build with blue eyes and blonde hair. He was wearing a light coloured waterproof jacket with the hood up, and the cord pulled tight around the face.

Detective Constable Craig Aubrey of Calderdale CID said; “Whilst the victim was uninjured following the incident, clearly this has been very distressing I would appeal to anyone who was using the Broad Street Car Park during the early part of Friday afternoon and may have seen anything to come forward.

“This is a busy car park in the Town Centre, and I am certain that someone will have either seen the suspect before the incident, witnessed the incident itself or seen the suspect and / or the stolen vehicle. I would appeal to anyone with information to speak to the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calderdale CID via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Enquiries are ongoing.
