A TEAM of hospital staff has completed a gruelling Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride to raise funds for charity.

Nurse Chris Burton, chaplain Martin Parrott and consultant Piers Lesser, from Calderdale Royal Hospital, have completed a 1,000-mile journey to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Halifax charity Noah’s Ark.

Rev Parrott said: “Having to pedal to go downhill from Dartmoor in stong winds really brought it home to us how hard this was going to be.

“But we all dug in and pushed ourselves over and over again. Holme Moss was another gruelling challenge but the joy of cycling down through Glencoe in Scotland was sheer ecstasy.”

The team hopes to raise around £4,000 by the ride.
