A fundraising father is getting behind his son as he takes part in a hike-bike challenge.

Roger Haworth will climb the Three Peaks of Britain – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – biking in between and back to Halifax in support of his son Jacob’s battle with cancer.

Raising money for the Candlelighters Charity – which has generatednearly £5,000 for Jacob’s cause – Roger is joined by North Halifax Grammar School colleagues, aiming to cover the 650 miles in seven days during half term.

Roger, a teacher at the school, said: “Candlelighters do a lot of excellent work particularly for children fighting cancer. We have benefited enormously from the facilities they have provided whilst spending long periods of time in hospital with Jacob.”

He added that Jacob, who’s just two, is coping well with the treatment for his Neuroblastoma.

Roger said: “He is coping very well and is currently undergoing antibody therapy to help prevent the cancer from returning.”
