Davies return is boost for back to form Crocs
Old Crossleyans 17 - Rochdale 11 THE appearance of player coach Jonathan Davies in the latter stages was one of a series of plus points as Old Crossleyans bounced back from a run of disappointing performances with a win in this friendly against League two North West opponents.
The visitors dominated the first half but led only 8-0 at half time, but Rob Oliver, Ian Greenhough and Tony Jackson, who recently earned his Oxford Blue, came on at the interval and with the wind behind them Crocs raised their game.
A typical Tony Waite break saw him score under the posts for Ian Holmes to convert then an exchange of penalties kept Crocs within a point.
Crocs continued to dominate and the game was sealed when stalwart Ian Greenhough scored the winning try in the closing minutes with Holmes again converting.
In the Yorkshire Merit League, Crossleyans seconds lost 22-19 to Keighley.
