WANT to raise funds for charity? Then dedication is what you need.

That was the message at the Roy Castle Tapathon, held at Halifax’s North Bridge Leisure Centre.

Over the years, the Halifax tap sessions have now raised more than £200,000. The latest marathon had 15 dance schools tapping non-stop from 10am to 4pm.

It was the 16th year the tapathon has been held and organisers are confident they have exceeded the £11,000 they needed this year to top the £200,000 mark. Janet Austin, of the Janet Austin Tappers, organised this year’s event after founders Derek and Vera Hamer, of Brighouse, stepped down last year.

All funds go to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Federation.
