Drink driver taken off road

A man has admitted drink driving on Churchfields Road, Brighouse.

Jonathan Durkin, 29, of Slead Court, Slead Syke, Brighouse, was stopped by police at 2.45am on Saturday October 1.

A breathalyser test showed he had 45 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, 5 micrograms over the legal limit. Mr Durkin, who has no previous convictions, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a total of £380 in fines and costs. He was also placed him on the drink driver rehabilitation scheme at his request, reducing his ban by three months.

Car burnt out

A Kia Sedona was destroyed by a blaze in Briggate, Elland, at 12.50am yesterday.
