Driver arrested after 70 mph pursuit

A 19-year-old driver was arrested after speeding at up to 70 mph along Queen’s Road, Halifax, last night.

His silver Honda Civic went through red traffic lights at Aachen Way before crashing into a wall.

The driver. of Grosvenor Terrace, Halifax, remains in custody.

His two passengers aged 18 and 27 were released without charge.

A police spokesman said officers requested the driver to stop but he sped off and narrowly missed an Audi as his car went through the red lights.

The uninsured vehicle had slowed by the time it hit the wall which wasn’t damaged and nobody was injured.
